MIS Consulting includes sourcing software such as point-of-sale systems or other specific-use applications. It also includes acting as a technical liaison and assisting customers in the use of their software, monitoring licensing, and interfacing with software and hardware vendors.

System Sourcing/Consulting

I acted as the technical consultant for the location and evaluation of a point of sale package for a retail and liquor distribution business. I provided the technical evaluation of the product choices, managed the implementation, and am still assisting the company with its software/hardware issues.

I have also located and evaluated a point of sale system for a retail organization consisting of one shoe store and six soccer sporting goods stores.

Over the years, I have installed time and attendance/data collection packages in many companies. These packages were tailored to each company and sometimes included a great deal of customization. Being primarily installed in manufacturing facilities, I am also familiar with labor data collection and interfacing data between systems.

At L. L. Bean, in the early 80's, I assisted with the selection and was responsible for the implementation, training and maintenance of a Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II) system in their manufacturing facilities.
